Porsche Classic Center in Netherlands using Glasurit

Porsche Classic Center Gelderland in the Netherlands will be partnering with paint supplier Glasurit for the repair of classic Porsche vehicles. Both parties recently signed a partnership agreement for this purpose. A special element in this partnership is that Porsche Classic Center Gelderland specialises in the restoration and repair of classic Porsches, whereby original colouring is of essential importance, and that with its Classic Car Colors system, Glasurit offers exactly the right solution for this purpose. This makes it possible to always restore Porsches to the right colour, as close as possible to the original.

It is therefore a logical step that Porsche Classic Center Gelderland and Glasurit – both specialised in the repair of classic cars based on their own expertise – have decided to enter into a joint partnership. Porsche Classic Center Gelderland is the only Porsche-approved Classic Center in the Benelux and was the first Porsche Classic Center in the world. In addition, the company also specialises in maintaining, repairing and restoring classic porches. Due to its broad history and experience with car paint of many manufacturers, including Porsche, Glasurit has documented an almost 100% complete history of the evolution of colour. Since the restoration of classic cars depends on finding the exact colour, this history is very important. In many cases, the original OEM paint is no longer available on the market and that means the original colour must be approximated as closely as possible. The online Classic Car Colors database not only includes the historical colour codes but the modern colours for these classic cars as well. Because of this new partnership, the customers of Porsche Classic Center Gelderland are therefore always assured of the best possible solution, which maintains the (classic) value of the car.

Porsche Classic Center Gelderland will be using the Glasurit 90 series and 22 series for paint restoration. The full Glasurit system will be used for this purpose, ranging from primer to finishing coat. The organisation will also make use of the different colour solutions offered by Glasurit, specifically focused on the restoration of classic vehicles. This includes the Classic Car Colors colours database and the Glasurit RATIO Scan 12/6 spectrophotometer. This device uses two light sources – a blue and white LED lamp – for its measurements and produces six photos and twelve geometries. This makes it possible to accurately analyse the colour and texture of the pigments; even ‘difficult’ colours can be reliably identified. Glasurit will also be providing training to the Porsche Classic Center Gelderland team. During the training, the spraying and pre-treatment team will be taught everything about how to obtain the best possible result with Glasurit products and will also learn how to work with the latest technologies.

Porsche Classic Center Gelderland furthermore is joining Glasurit’s Classic Car Colors network. This network, with national coverage in the Netherlands, consists of certified professionals in classic car restoration. All affiliated companies specialise in the restoration and repair of classic cars and the experts involved in these companies understand their profession. They repair cosmetic damage and eliminate annoying scratches, carry out invisible partial repairs or completely respray the car in its original colour, so that the classic car retains its value. After a restoration, affiliated bodyshops can request Glasurit to provide a certificate with the details of all the repair work carried out and then hand this over to the vehicle’s owner.

For Porsche Classic Center Gelderland the global partnership between BASF (Glasurit’s parent organisation) and the Porsche car manufacturer, combined with Glasurit’s expertise in the restoration of classic cars was decisive in its choice of Glasurit. Freek Janssen, Manager of Porsche Classic Center Gelderland: ‘Of course it is important that Glasurit is a Porsche-approved OEM, which means that its paint products and systems are approved by Porsche. Through Glasurit’s Classic Car Colors system Porsche Classic Center Gelderland has access to an unprecedented range of colours, all with high colour fastness. Furthermore, excellent technical support and fast and good service also played a role in the company’s decision to partner with Glasurit. All of this taken together produces the very best end-result for customers having their Porsche restored or repaired by Porsche Classic Center Gelderland.’
