Glasurit Empowering Emirati youth in automotive painting skills

Glasurit, BASF’s premium automotive paint brand, recently supported the 12th edition of the Emirates Skills National Competition 2021, which took place between May 31 and June 3, 2021 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Emirates Skills National Competition is a steppingstone for a rewarding career for young Emiratis, enabling them to develop new skills and build professional networks.

The competition also qualifies youth for potential selection for the UAE national team in regional and international levels of the competition. Globally, Glasurit is an industry partner of WorldSkills International in a continued commitment to support young spray painters in the car painting category.

For the 4th time, Glasurit supported Emirates Skills as the category partner for the car painting category. All spray painters exclusively worked with products from the Glasurit portfolio and competitors used the latest Glasurit ProClass clear coat range to create a stunning finish.

As part of the competition, the young painters were encouraged to take safety and sustainability into account by working with the most efficient automotive refinish product to achieve pro-level results.

"We are proud to be selected as a partner for this competition and to support vocational training for talented young Emiratis in line with the vision of the country’s leadership. Glasurit paint provides solutions that are innovative, sustainable and increase efficiency at every level. It’s a good learning experience to work with a paint brand with more than 130 years of expertise and knowledge," says Marco Hoepker, Regional Business Manager Middle East, BASF.

Car Painting Chief Expert, Lucas Yuri Bessoni Campos and the regional Glasurit team managed the spray-painting competition. They selected Hazza Mansoor Almansoori to win the gold medal for the category.

In total, 86 male and female Emirati citizens competed in the 17 different skills categories. Four Emiratis participated in the car painting category.

The event was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF). The Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) organized the event, which was held with all preventive health measures in place.
