Seeing professional colour matching in practice: At the Glasurit booth, visitors to this year’s Automechanika car show in Frankfurt, Germany, can experience first-hand how state-of-the-art technology is used in the automotive refinish product sector. Glasurit will also present its one-of-a-kind Classic Car Colors (CCC) portfolio as part of its colour management platform. CCC includes a colour database for vintage colours, colour matching instruments with original paint and a network of authorised bodyshops. As a special visual highlight, a 1957 "Gullwing" Mercedes SL 300 will be turning heads at the Glasurit booth, attesting to Glasurit’s colour expertise.
Automechanika, the leading international trade fair for the automotive industry, will kick off on 14 September in Frankfurt, Germany. For automotive refinishing, the primary objective is finding the right colour. These high standards are reflected in Glasurit's presentation. "We will present our entire colour expertise and demonstrate all aspects of the colour matching process, from A to Z.We will have live demonstrations of innovative solutions for our customers, such as the Glasurit RATIO Scan II colour measuring device," said Dirk Steen, head of Glasurit Germany. Portable colour measuring device and Color Profi System
Customers will have a chance to see the advantages of Glasurit RATIO Scan II during hands-on demonstrations. The portable colour measuring device facilitates and accelerates colour matching, since it automates the search and selects the most suitable colour from many similar colours. When the measurement data has been transferred to the computer, the programme searches for a solution in the global colour database.In doing so, the programme selects a number of suitable colours, decides which one fits best and then indicates a colour chip and mixing formula from the Glasurit Color Profi System. This is a perfectly organised, practical and efficient system of thousands of colour chips. It will also be presented at Automechanika by Glasurit experts.
Classic car refinishing with Classic Car Colors
The Classic Car Colors presentation also highlights Glasurit’s high-level colour competence, with the historic colour library at the heart of the system. With this internet-based service, Glasurit helps classic car fans all over the world pursue their passion – the original restoration of classic cars with ultramodern eco-friendly technology. The database is expanded on an ongoing basis.
An eye-catcher: The Mercedes Gullwing
Visitors can see Glasurit's quality and colour competence for themselves with a true classic, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. This sports car's doors swing upwards like the wings of a seagull. Today, the Gullwing is one of the most highly desired Mercedes-Benz classic cars. Only 1,400 Mercedes 300 SLs were produced between 1954 and 1957, one of which is owned by BASF. Glasurit 90 Line waterborne basecoats, along with the Glasurit colour library, were used for the extensive and authentic restoration.
