Searching for mixing formulas with COLOR-ONLINE: tips & tricks

Just posted!

More informative, versatile, detailed – the new COLOR-ONLINE service from Glasurit® leads users quickly and reliably to their goal. The following short overview shows how easy the search tool is to operate and what small tricks can be used to get the required response quickly and dependably.

The search starts, for example, by inputting a colour code. Sometimes, however, the colour numbers are not clearly legible in the vehicle or there was a misunderstanding over the phone with the customer – was it an “S” or an “F”?

Tip 1:

Don’t simply enter the number; add a “*” or “%” as a leading or trailing wild card!

Inputting “*25M” in the search, for example, will find numbers including B25M, GY25M and YR525M.

Tip 2:

The input is not case-sensitive, so upper- and lower-case letters can be used interchangeably!

The query may generate a very large number of hits, though you can easily narrow them down with further options – for example, by entering the following:

Manufacturer

  • Model (new)
  • Year
  • Application (new!) – when searching for special colours on individual components such as the roof, bumpers, wheel rims etc.
  • Colour Class (new!)
  • Colour Type (new!) – solid / effect etc.

Tip 3:

Only enter what you know for sure in the search fields!

The more search inputs, the fewer hits – and if just one search field contains incorrect information, the colour you’re actually looking for won’t be there. It’s better, therefore, to input less at first and then to narrow the search down step by step by specifying further information. Don’t forget: click “Start Search” to initiate the search after each new input!

Tip 4:

To locate items quickly in a drop-down list, simply enter the first letter of the search term!

If, for example, you input an “s” in the list of manufacturers, you will jump straight to “Saab”.

And once your search results have been displayed, the next steps are straightforward and clear:

  • Click a colour name in the list in the centre. Note the additional information – the pictogram shows, for example, whether a colour is only used on particular hang-on parts.
  • Click a paint line at bottom left.
  • Click one of the options at bottom right: specifying colour tools and variants provides further information. The numbers under “MPV” indicate which variants are most frequently used.

You have now reached the mixing formula – incorporating a number of additional items:

  • “Step” – indicating the necessary working steps (e.g. primer and topcoat)
  • “Pb” – contains lead yes/no
  • “Egg timer” – mixing formula contains a mixing base which is soon to be phased out
