Twenty-nine classic BMW colours available exclusively from Glasurit
World’s largest colour archive continues to grow
Despite the proud 70 years under their belts, the 29 classic colours for BMW models built in the 1930s are
spectacular brand-new additions to the Glasurit colour archive, the biggest of its kind in the world. BMW lent the
Glasurit Colour Information team the exquisite original samples in summer 2008. Such rare period paint samples in mint
condition are generally impossible to find.
How to make a painter’s eyes light up . . .
The front of each of the historic colour samples looks rather unspectacular, displaying information on which model of
which series the paint was used for. But a glance at the back of the card makes painters’ and classic car fans’ eyes
light up. Two fabric swatches show how the car’s convertible top and the upholstery originally looked. The back of the
sample also contains a sample of the original paintwork.
The Glasurit team was able to assign the samples and the relevant mixing formulas to the Glasurit COLOR-PROFI Systems.
This is yet another example of the treasure trove of colour information offered by the COLOR-PROFI System for matching
the colours of classic cars.
The right classic colour is just a mouse click away
With just the click of a mouse, BMW enthusiasts and Glasurit bodyshops anywhere in the world can now call up the mixing
formulas for the historic BMW colours at www.glasurit.com and use today’s Glasurit paints to mix the original colour.
In order to facilitate the colour search, Glasurit colour experts have worked with BMW to assign the colours in the
database to the respective BMW models of the 1930s. This allows bodyshops to precisely determine which colour was used
for models such as the legendary 1936 BMW 326.
The classic colour samples are now back home at BMW in Munich, and the Glasurit colour archive has gained 29 rare
colours.
